The New York Academy of Medicine advances the health of people in cities. Summary and Description

The Director of the Education and Conference Center is seeking a highly motivated and goal oriented professional with combined meeting/event planning, hospitality and CME experience.  Must be a technology savvy with the ability to multitask and oversee several activities simultaneously.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Participate in pre-planning meetings with clients and preparing event outlines
2. Assists in creating maintaining the Director’s calendar
3. Meets with clients to plan and implement special program events (Annual Gala, Wedding etc).
4. Participates in negotiations and contract preparation
5. Assist in the maintenance of program records and department databases
6. Helps with event scheduling
7. Ensures client's requirements are met and facility rules and regulations are adhered to
8. Assist with CME functions
9. Oversee, develop and assist in marketing Conference Center to increase revenue
10. Work with other department staff to carry out the duties as assigned. Duties could range from assisting in specific portions of the underlying tasks or leading individual projects, depending on the requirements of the project, and the needs of the conference center at any given time.
11. Make recommendations on conference and event contents
12. Other duties as required

Qualifications

Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations. Must have the capacity and be willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as necessary. Strong oral and written communication, presentation and management skills. Ability to problem solve in a fast paced deadline driven environment. The ability to work collaboratively within a team. Knowledge of Convio, Microsoft Office Suite a must.

Experience

Bachelor degree with 3 or more year’s conference/event center and fundraising experience.
