Summary and Description

Center for Evaluation and Applied Research
The Center for Evaluation and Applied Research (CEAR) works with not-for-profit and governmental organizations to investigate and assess initiatives that seek to improve the health and well-being of populations. CEAR works with large and small programs focused on a wide range of health-related topics, including improved nutrition and physical activity, maternal and infant health, diabetes, HIV/AIDS care, substance abuse treatment, development and training of the health care workforce, reducing racial and ethnic health disparities, aging, and access to care for immigrant populations

Duties and Responsibilities

Position Overview:
The Center for Evaluation and Applied Research at The New York Academy of Medicine is seeking an experienced quantitative researcher/evaluator to work on current and new projects focused primarily on community level public health interventions addressing topics that include nutrition and physical activity, maternal and infant health, diabetes, reducing racial and ethnic health disparities, and healthy aging. 

• Collaboration on currently funded research and evaluation projects
• Identification of new research and evaluation opportunities
• Preparation of grant proposals
• Design and oversight of research and evaluation projects
• Presentation of study findings at meetings and conferences
• Development of reports and manuscripts describing research and evaluation findings
• Collaboration with policy makers and practitioners to communicate findings to diverse audiences

Qualifications

• A doctorate in health services research, health care management, healthy policy, public administration (with a concentration in health), or a related field.

Experience

 • Experience in study design and implementation;
• A track record of governmental and/or foundation funding
• A record of peer-reviewed publications
• Experience collaborating with community organizations
• Ability to communicating research to policy audiences
• Access and analyze large public health and/or health services databases preferred.  Expertise in cost analysis a plus.
