Staff Profile: Nicole Bouknight Johnson

Nicole Bouknight Johnson
Director of Individual Giving, Development and Communications

Nicole is the Director of Individual Giving, a newly created position at The New York Academy of Medicine. She has extensive experience creating, expanding, and maintaining annual fund and major gifts programs for nonprofit institutions. At Ethical Culture Fieldston School she was instrumental in crafting and executing a strategic plan for what would ultimately become a campaign to raise $50 million. At her departure, $23 million had been secured. As a front line fund raiser for Columbia University, Fieldston and UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, among others, Nicole personally solicited and secured 5 – 7 figure gifts for programmatic, capital, endowment and unrestricted needs.

Nicole is an experienced public speaker who has held seminars at Borders, various adult schools and real estate organizations. Her entrepreneurial approach to fund raising is no accident, as Nicole is a former business owner whose clients included K. Hovnanian and Toll Brothers, two of the largest residential developers in the country.

Nicole holds a B.S. degree in Consumer Economics from the University of Maryland at College Park and an M.S. degree in College Student Personnel from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
