Gardith Marcelin is a Senior Project Director with The New York Academy of Medicine Office of School Health Programs. In this position, she oversees the planning and coordination of programs designed to motivate and build the capacity of underrepresented minority youth to pursue careers in the science and health professions. For the past 12 years, she has worked in the field of health education and mental health, implementing wellness and health education programs that target parents and children in New York City’s K-12 public, private and charter schools as well as conducting professional development and in-service for school staff.
Dr. Marcelin has a Doctoral degree in Applied Educational Psychology and a Masters degree in Health Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. She also received postdoctoral training in the neuropsychological aspects of learning and learning disorders. She has published in peer reviewed journals and has made presentations locally, regionally, and national conferences, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and the American Public Health Association. Dr. Marcelin is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the department of Health and Behavior Studies at Teachers College, where she teaches and provide clinical supervision for graduate students. She has served as a consultant to several New York based community organizations on health and mental health education programming.
