Staff Profile: Simone-Marie L. Meeks

Simone-Marie L. Meeks, MS
Director, Community and Legislative Outreach

Simone-Marie L. Meeks serves as NYAM’s Director of Community and Legislative Outreach, overseeing the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy to increase NYAM’s visibility and effectiveness principally in East/Centeral Harlem. Ms. Meeks also works to build and maintain relationships with business leaders, legislative leaders and their staffs and appointees. Additionally, she acts as liaison to critical community organizations to facilitate NYAM’s ongoing involvement in their work and works with the NYAM management team to coordinate NYAM’s work in the community.

Ms. Meeks first joined the NYAM Health Policy staff as a senior policy associate in 2008, working with the Health Policy team on a range of legislative and policy issues, and has been instrumental in helping NYAM to form important partnerships with elected official and external leaders in New York City and New York State. 

Since choosing public service, Ms. Meeks has served in leadership and confidential roles providing external and internal communications support, strategic planning in the areas of public health, emergency preparedness, and youth development.

A former Center for Women in Government Fellow, Ms. Meeks received her Master of Science degree from The New School’s Robert Milano School for Urban Policy Analysis and Management, and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Media Studies from Fordham University.
