Social Work Leadership Institute
Summary
The New York Academy of Medicine’s Social Work Leadership Institute, a well known national program focused on supporting older adults as they age so they can stay in charge of their lives; work force development, particularly social workers; and, public policies to effectively link health and human services. We seek an experienced professional to join a team and contribute to meeting its strategic goals. The team’s work spans public policy, research and education to achieve these ends.
Overview of Responsibilities
• Administer design and delivery of training seminars for grant recipients
• Maintain the data integrity of listservs
• Develop and present reports to funders in collaboration with team
• Supervise project work of junior team members as needed
• Support principle investigators through distribution of information to grant recipients; assist recipients in obtaining additional resources; follow-up with recipient’s requests; administer progress reports
• Develop marketing strategies for future grant recipients
• Utilize strategic planning, analytic and project management skills to advance the team’s work
• Participate in team strategies to grow and expand the program’s reach
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Master’s degree or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Social work background required. Experience managing grants and non-profit administration. Strategic planning and project management skills required. Demonstrated ability meeting multiple project deadlines as a team member and on individual projects. MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word proficiency required. Knowledge of web publishing preferred.
Communication Skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, general business periodicals, research literature and governmental laws and regulations. Ability to write clear and concise proposals, grants, reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively summarize and present information and respond to questions from social work practitioners and educators. Ability to facilitate timely delivery of meeting materials.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, the individual must have computer literacy including MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word and knowledge of web/internet publishing.
Additional Skills and Abilities
Candidate should have excellent organizational skills, be detail oriented, flexible and strategic. Knowledge of logistical planning for training seminars. Must be able to work independently, take initiative, and prioritize well. Strong communication and teamwork skills a must. Ability to work on several tasks/projects at once. Knowledge of grants management essential, and previous experience using and orchestrating website content a plus. Experience with management; professional, personable, and a sense of humor preferred.
