Senior Project Director, Center for Evaluation and Applied Research

Maya  Scherer,  MPH

Maya Scherer is a Senior Project Director at the Center for Evaluation and Applied Research (CEAR) whose work is focused on a range of issues including health care language access for immigrant New Yorkers, transparency in health care cost and quality, chronic disease prevention, and community health needs. Her projects utilize a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods. Prior to joining The Academy, Ms. Scherer worked as the Director of Programs at Columbia University’s IFAP Global Health Program. Fluent in Spanish, she has also worked in the areas of domestic violence and sexual and reproductive health both at a local New York City community based organization, Violence Intervention Program (VIP), and at an international women’s rights organization in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Fundación para Estudio e Investigación de la Mujer (FEIM). Ms. Scherer holds a BA from Wesleyan University and an MPH from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University.
