Head of Digital, Library
Robin Naughton, PhD is Head of Digital for The New York Academy of Medicine Library. She manages the digital program for the library, including digitization efforts and library systems. Prior to joining the Academy, Dr. Naughton was a Digital Consultant with LearningExpress, an EBSCO company, and Oxford University Press, English Language Teaching. She managed eLearning courses (web & mobile) created for public and state libraries, and the transition of print to eBooks and interactive whiteboard products for students and teachers learning and teaching English. From 1999 to 2008, Dr. Naughton worked for Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions, where she held multiple positions (developer, producer, project manager) and managed the development of online educational products.
Dr. Naughton received an Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) fellowship for digital librarianship, and completed her PhD in Information Science from Drexelís College of Computing and Informatics in 2012. Her BFA and MA degrees are in English from Brooklyn College, CUNY. Dr. Naughton has conducted research on teens mental models of public library websites for teens, worked on Internet Public Library (ipl2) redesign, and researched social technologies in libraries for teens for the Youth Online project. Dr. Naughton is a user-centered researcher focused on human-computer interaction (HCI) and mental models, specifically how to design interactive systems that are useful, easy to use and enjoyable.
