The Age Smart Employer Awards—an initiative of the Robert N. Butler Columbia Aging Center and The New York Academy of Medicine, funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation— addresses the needs of both businesses and older workers by: 

Researching best practices of NYC employers, especially small businesses

Honoring employers who value workers of all ages through an awards program

Supporting businesses interested in hiring and retaining older workers to solve pressing problems such
  as high turnover and skills shortages

Ristorante Settepani & Settepani Bakery

Established in 2000, Ristorante Settepani brings Sicilian fare to Harlem. Settepani Bakery, under the same ownership, is a commercial bakery operating out of Williamsburg, Brooklyn since 1992 and is the source of bread and pastries for many restaurants throughout New York City. They have 50 employees in New York City.

 

As a result of their 2013 Age Smart Employer Award, Leah Abraham, President of Settepani, was invited to be a panelist at the White House Summit on Working Families.
