Transportation Alternatives’ mission is to is to reclaim New York City's streets from the automobile, and to advocate for bicycling, walking and public transit as the best transportation alternatives. Transportation Alternatives works closely with communities on many initiatives, such as Play Streets. Play Streets close off neighborhood streets to create vibrant, family-friendly spaces that promote active lifestyles, as well as healthy eating. Watch their video. |

Clymer Central School in Clymer, NY started a "morning jogging" program 5 years ago and has seen their elementary student BMIs drop since starting the program.
