Join members of the NYAM Section on Urology, members of the New York Section of the AUA, and residents from area programs as they pay tribute to Demetrius H. Bagley, MD, FACS, this year’s recipient of the Ferdinand C. Valentine Medal. Dr. Bagley will present a lecture on “Ureteroscopy: Then, Now, and the Future.”

About the Speaker(s)

Dr. Demetrius H. Bagley is The Nathan Lewis Hatfield Professor of Urology and Professor of Radiology, Department of Urology at Jefferson Medical College. His major interests and expertise are in urologic endoscopy, laser therapy and the treatment of calculi and intrarenal neoplasms. He has been invited to speak nationally as well as internationally on his experience in these fields. After receiving his undergraduate and medical degrees at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, Dr. Bagley completed two years of general surgery residency at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut before completing a three-year fellowship in oncology at the Surgery Branch of the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Bagley then completed his four year urology residency at Yale New Haven Hospital. His first faculty appointment in Urology was at the University of Chicago where he progressed from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor (1979-1983).  He then moved to Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia in 1983 where he is now The Nathan Lewis Hatfield Professor of Urology and Professor of Radiology.

Dr. Bagley is a member of the major urologic and endoscopic organizations and has been elected into the American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons. He is the past President of the Philadelphia Urological Society. Dr. Bagley is an associate member of the Kimmel Cancer Center of Thomas Jefferson University. He was recently Editor-in-Chief of Diagnostic and Therapeutic Endoscopy, an online journal. He is also an Associate Editor of the Journal of Endourology and Section Editor of the Arab Journal of Urology, and a reviewer for the Journal of Urology, Urology and British Journal of Urology International. He is the author/co-author of eight books on urologic endoscopy and has written over 350 original papers and chapters. Cited in the Best Doctors in America and Philadelphia Magazine's "Top Doctors" for stone treatment, cancer treatment and ureteroscopy, he is an internationally recognized expert in the field of endoscopy.
