Set in 1942, Final Stamp is a beautifully written historical novel depicting the lives of Jewish physicians working and living in the Warsaw Ghetto. These doctors sought to document the effects of starvation to ensure that those who survived would receive the right kind of care-focusing on the damage done. Unfortunately—the doctors did not survive—but the document did and later became the cornerstone of the medical community's understanding and treatment of starvation.

Myron Winick, M.D. is the R.R. Williams Professor of Nutrition (emeritus) at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. From 1971-1988 he was the Director of the Institute of Human Nutrition, R.R. Williams Professor of Nutrition and Professor of Pediatrics at Columbia. From 1990 to 1993 Dr. Winick was President, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Academic Officer and Distinguished Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Health Sciences, the Chicago Medical School. He is the recipient of numerous research awards and has served on many special advisory committees.
