Academy Divisions
Researchers in the Academy's various divisions pursue studies and projects concerned with epidemiology, health policy, child health, biomedicine, ethics, handgun injury, infectious diseases and more. All Academy divisions aim to enhance the health of the public, particularly disadvantaged urban populations.

Center for Urban Bioethics
Studies ethical issues affecting vulnerable populations

Center for Urban Epidemiologic Studies
Researches the determinants of urban populations' health and develops interventions to improve health and well-being in cities

Council on Biomedical Research and Development
Strengthens biomedical research in the New York region

Division of Health Policy
Conducts policy-relevant research that improves the health of stigmatized populations and studies the effect that public policy has on health

Division of Public Health/Center for the Advancement of Collaborative Strategies in Health
Helps organizations, funders and policymakers to collaborate to solve complex problems affecting community health

Office of Development and Communications
Fosters public awareness of Academy research and initiatives and secures funding

Office of School Health Programs
Enhances health through education programs for New York City public school teachers, administrators, parents and students in grades K-12

National Training Center and Clearinghouse
Provides access to biomedical information to health professionals and the public

Social Work Leadership Institute
Improves the training of social workers caring for older adults and increases the number selecting aging as a field of practice
