Jessica Walker
Jessica Walker is a policy associate in the Division of Health Policy. Focusing primarily on aging policy, Ms. Walker works to create “elder-friendly” communities places where older adults are vitally involved, respected, and supported. Much of her work includes analyzing the impact of public policy on seniors, synthesizing and sharing relevant research, and advancing sensible policy solutions. Prior to joining the Academy, Ms. Walker served as the senior policy analyst at the United Neighborhood Houses of New York, the membership organization of New York City settlement houses and community centers. While there, she oversaw a pilot initiative delivering geriatric mental health services in non-clinical settings such as senior centers. Ms. Walker is the author of several influential reports on a range of issues including social isolation among seniors, elder poverty, and geriatric mental health. She is a Board Member of the New York Citizens’ Committee on Aging and serves on various advisory panels. A graduate of Princeton University, Ms. Walker grew up on a Native American reservation in New Mexico and now resides in the Bronx.
