Historical Note
The Riverside Practioners' Society formed in 1900 with the dual purpose of acquiring medical and surgical knowledge and providing a social forum for its members. Membership was restricted to regular practitioners residing in the Riverside neighborhood of Manhattan, defined as west of Central Park from the north side of 59th street and the south side of 110th street. Regular meetings were held monthly (except in June, July, August, and September) and generally consisted of presentations, the reading of papers, discussions, and executive business. The activity of the Society after 1939 is unknown.
