Archival Supplies
An easy way to protect rare and fragile materials from damage caused by light, pollutants, environmental fluctuations and poor shelving and handling is to store them in appropriate archival enclosures. For a detailed directory of suppliers, refer to NEDCC’s suppliers’ list.
Disaster Recovery
Natural disasters, as well as those caused by accident or negligence, can do irreparable damage to collections. For assistance in preparing for and dealing with the aftermath of a disaster, refer to NEDCC’s Disaster Assistance information. Their disaster hotline 978-470-1010 is available 24-hours/day, 7 days/week. In the New York metropolitan area, Polygon and Rapid Refile can also provide emergency assistance.

Time: 6:00PM - 7:30PM
Light refreshments at 5:30 p.m.,
Lecture at 6:00 p.m.
Manipulation of the patient's environment has been central to prevention and treatment for asthma since antiquity. Over the course of the past two centuries, physicians and patients have sought to move from testimonials and complaints to quantitative measures of risk. In this lecture, Dr. Carla Keirns of Stony Brook University of Medicine will discuss the shift over time of efforts to predict or create safe places for those who suffer from asthma and document the disproportionate risks faced by minority communities.
