Vol.1, No. 1 August 1999
Welcome!
This is the first issue of the Grey Literature Report, a quarterly publication of the New York Academy of Medicine Library. The purpose of the Grey Literature Report will be to provide information about 'fugitive' publications in the subjects of Health Policy, Public Health and related subjects as they acquired by the Academy, and to create a database of these publications for future use and access.
The publications announced here are those published by research institutions and government agencies, rather than commercial publishers. The documents include research reports, statistical publications, proceedings, and other documents recently obtained by the New York Academy of Medicine Library. Links to many of the organizations from whom the Library receives these publications are provided. Included in this issue are publications produced from 1998 to the present only, except in rare instances. If the item is also published electronically, or if there is an information page about the item, the link will be included when known.
Organizations who would like to help facilitate this process, and/or who would like to have their material included in our databse, please send 'grey literature' items to us at: Marie Tomlinson Ascher, New York Academy of Medicine, 1216 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10029. They will be most appreciated.
In the future, efforts to either get these items indexed elsewhere, or to create a bibliographic database with thorough controlled indexing or a series of relevant 'grey literature' subject bibliographies, may be undertaken. But, without further adieu, here is our latest batch of grey literature acquisitions. This first list is rather long as it is comprised of an initial surge of acquisitions. Future quarterly installments shall be much more concise.
