Prior to her arrival at NYAM, Ms. Kaplan directed the libraries of Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT, where she supervised an active Clinical Librarian Program maintained by that institution. While at Hartford Hospital, she developed innovative programs supporting consumer health outreach as well as assisted with the implementation of a successful acute complementary and integrative therapy program.
Ms. Kaplan's professional experience includes extensive contributions to professional organizations, participation in the development of a nationally supported benchmarking endeavor for hospital and academic health science librarians; contributions to recruitment and retention to her professional field, and the development of entrepreneurial skills sets for librarians. She presently sits on a number of national library committees, taskforces from professional library organizations, and vendor advisory boards.
Ms. Kaplan is a graduate of Boston University with a degree in English Language and Literature and received her Master of Librarianship with an emphasis on Medicine from Emory University. She holds a Distinguished Level of recognition from the Academy of Health Professionals associated with the Medical Library Association.
