The Academy will be closing its doors to the public at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18 through Friday, July 20 for an all-Academy Strategic Planning Meeting.
Since Jo Ivey Boufford, MD, assumed the role of Academy President in February, one of her major priorities has been to implement a Strategic Planning process to help the Academy shape its future direction.
“We have important choices to make and possibilities to explore about the way we will engage and create our future,” said Dr. Boufford. “We are challenged to both build on the gains we have made and to continue to be open and proactive in pursuing opportunities. This meeting is an opportunity for the broader Academy community to work together on establishing goals and priorities that will help define the direction of our efforts.”
The meeting will also include key external stakeholders who have varied perspectives on the issues the Academy faces and the opportunities that may be available to enrich our discussions and broaden our thinking.
The theme of the meeting is “Collaborating to Create Our Future,” which reflects the Academy’s interest in finding ways to work with each other and with those outside the Academy to be a responsive source of knowledge and a trusted partner for action in improving urban health.
