NEW YORK CITY, Oct. 9???Academy President Jo Ivey Boufford, MD, has named Kathleen O’Donnell, MPH, MBA, MA, Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration and Patricia J.Volland, MSW, MBA, as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Business Development.
O’Donnell joins the Academy with over 20 years of strategic planning, financial and operational management experience at Columbia University Medical Center, most recently as Vice President and Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Administration. During her tenure at Columbia she provided support to four Deans of the Medical School and over 40 clinical department chairs. She was instrumental in assisting with the transition to a full-time university-based faculty medical practice. At the Academy, O'Donnell is responsible for the overall operational functions of the Academy including finance/operations, grants administration, building operations, information technology, human resources, and the Education and Conference Center. “I believe that Kathy's versatility, results, orientation and collaborative work style will contribute greatly to furthering the Academy's mission in this next stage of our work together,” Boufford said.
Volland, who is also Director of the Social Work Leadership Institute, provided leadership to the Academy as Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration for 13 years and played a major role in the enormous advances in the Academy’s operational and financial systems. In her new position, she is responsible for working with Boufford and the Board of Trustees to manage the Academy's endowment portfolio and real estate development planning, and to develop a long term capital plan for the Academy building. She will also work across the Academy to identify opportunities for enhancing revenues through mission appropriate development and marketing of work products from our research, educational materials, training activities, and library services.
“We thank Pat for her commitment and contributions to the Academy and are delighted that she’s agreed to take on this important and exciting new role for our future,” Boufford said.
