HOPE Program honors The New York Academy of Medicine for Participation

NEW YORK CIT, May 7??? HOPE honored The New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM) at its program graduation ceremony in recognition of the institution’s support of the program’s interns. NYAM has provided internships in its Building Operations department for participants to gain experience supporting their career and helping cultivate the potential for growth.

"Our relationship with the Hope Program involves providing interns from their program with on the job career development opportunities, helping this group grow workplace skills to increase their marketability to be gainfully employed. As an employer, we are proud to be affiliated with the HOPE program," said Seymour Mintzer, Director of Human Resources at NYAM.

HOPE is an organization that helps people overcome the causes of poverty by blending vocational, educational, and social services to prepare individuals to find, keep, and advance in to a career. HOPE connects job-seekers with a wide range of services like addiction treatment, mental-health counseling and help finding child care. Many participants have recently left a homeless shelter, and the organization estimates that 60% of the people who walk into the office for the first time recently left prison.

The New York Academy of Medicine is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit institution whose mission is to enhance the health of the public. Its research, education, community engagement, and evidence-based advocacy seek to improve the health of people living in cities, especially disadvantaged and vulnerable populations. The impact of these initiatives reaches into neighborhoods in New York City, across the country, and around the world. It works with community based organizations, academic institutions, corporations, the media, and government to catalyze and contribute to changes that promote health.
