Better Community Support for Older PersonsTuesday March 11, 2008
The New York Academy of Medicine's (NYAM) Section on Health Care Delivery Lecture Series, continued with its second of four lectures with "Building a More Responsive Health Care System for the Aging Population in New York: Better Community Support for Older Persons” held at NYAM Tuesday March 11, 2008.
Older adults overwhelmingly want to stay at home as they age, but aging is associated with an increased need for medical and social services. What does it take to make the wishes of older people come true? What supports will they need from family and from the health care system? How will those supports be paid for? These questions and more were addressed by a panel of experts on aging.
