The Academy Library maintains a selective collection of books and journals for psychiatry as an area of clinical medicine, but provides only basic coverage for psychology and social work as it deals with issues of mental health. The following list includes some additional sources for information and resources relating to these areas and to mental health in general.

These institutions are closed to the general public, but special arrangements to consult their collections can be made through your local public library, the Academy Library, or your college/university/school library. New York State Psychiatric Institute Library
One of the largest psychiatric libraries in the nation, with a collection that emphasizes the multi disciplinary aspect of the Institute. Most source material is in psychiatry, but many books and journals can also be found in psychoanalysis, psychology and neuroscience. The NYSPI Library is open to the general public for reference and reading services.
