Evidence Database on Aging Care (EDAC)

As part of our overall mission, SWLI is building evidence to support a stronger aging care workforce and better care coordination by maintaining an online, searchable evidence-based database.

EDAC developed from the growing interest in evidence-based social work practice as well as the increasing need for services for the expanding older adult population.

It provides an online database to help scholars, policy analysts, and advocates follow the latest research and innovations in aging care and social services.

The evidence database is regularly updated by a professional staff of contributors that filters, reviews, and catalogues articles published in professional journals both in the U.S. and abroad.

The two topics that populate the database are:

  1. Social Work Intervention Effectiveness
  2. Outcomes of Care Coordination for Older Adults
Recent EDAC Developments
  • The fully redesigned working database features topic descriptions and links to relevant websites and databases including a grey literature search engine newly developed by the NYAM library staff.
  • The searchable online glossary has been expanded for the use of researchers, including state and other government agencies involved in the development of care coordination research and evaluation.
