Giving Opportunities

Annual Fund

General operating support, provided by contributions to the Annual Fund, enables the Academy to hire and retain the best urban health policymakers and researchers and gives our experts the resources they need to conduct a wide variety of timely projects and program initiatives, convene events, and conduct outreach activities that ensure maximum impact on urban health policy. Unrestricted funding from individuals and companies also underwrites the core operations of the Academy.

Strategic Initiative Funds

A Strategic Initiative Funds has been established for each of the Academy’s divisions: Institute of Urban Health, Fellows, and Library, and in the President’s office to provide flexible resources to seed new projects, fund institutional priorities, and respond nimbly to breaking events that demand immediate attention.

Name Your Seat in Hosack Hall

With a donation to the Name Your Seat Campaign, you have the opportunity to enjoy having your name or that of another person you wish to honor engraved on an elegant plaque placed on the arm of a theater seat in the Academy's Hosack Hall. Your participation guarantees that you and the person you honor will be a visible part of this historic and treasured auditorium for years to come. Proceeds from your gift will help sustain and grow the Academy’s engaging roster of educational and cultural programs.


A gift of endowed funds provides crucial support for key priorities and ensures an enduring legacy for the donor. Permanent endowments provide income to the Academy in perpetuity. Policy and research leadership, curatorial positions, fellowships, and lectures and public programs can be named with endowed gifts as a lasting testament to the generosity of the donor or to honor an individual of the donor’s choosing. Donors of endowed funds of $25,000 or more are recognized in the John Stearns Legacy Society.
