For more than 160 years, NYAM has been dedicated to advancing the health of people in cities. Gifts and bequests sustain this mission. Creating a fund for the future enables a donor to make a contribution that will continue to grow, have a long-range impact, and create a living memorial to a loved and respected person.
NYAM established The John Stearns Legacy Society to honor individuals who remember NYAM in their will and estate plans or have given a minimum of $25,000 to an endowment fund.
The Society is named for John Stearns, MD, the first president of NYAM in 1847, who was one of the most distinguished physicians of his day—he championed the establishment of high professional standards and was instrumental in improving the health of the public nationwide.
