During times of almost overwhelming stress as witnessed in the present pandemic, social workers must attend to their emotional as well as physical well-being. This workshop, led by Karisma Ajodah, LCSW, will identify the benefits to social workers of self-compassion in normal times and particularly in times of crisis. Since self-compassion is cultivated through the use of meditation, the foundations of mindfulness meditation, contemplative and compassion practices will be discussed and practiced.

Participants in the workshop will address three objectives:

  1.  To learn the basics of mindfulness meditation practice;
  2.  To learn contemplative and compassion meditation practices;
  3.  To learn how to incorporate mindfulness practices into their everyday lives.

Two Continuing Education Credit Hours will be awarded to NYS licensed social workers by the Helen Rehr Center for Social Work Practice.* The workshop is free, but continuing education credit hours will be available to licensed NYS social workers for a $25.00 fee. Please apply by following this link: http://helenrehrcenter.org/workshop/
